Let’s have a look at the Book Blurb
ABC See, Hear, Do: Learn to Read 55 Words teaches letter sounds and early reading skills. This exciting new method of teaching reading combines visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles to help increase phonemic awareness. The combination of fun animal pictures with hand motions helps young children easily remember each letter sound. After learning only four letter sounds, children can start blending words together. This method is simple and effective. It is best for children ages 2-6.

Our Review
Alphabet books can be valuable for teaching kids the sounds that letters make — but only if they are fun to read! ABC See, Hear, Do by Stefanie Hohl is that fun book; it features amazing animal pictures in an entertaining format and teaches the phonetic sounds in an order that allows the children to quickly learn to read many words rather than in ABC order. On each page, you’ll find a letter (e.g. “C”), Letter sound (e.g. C-c-c-c), and a colorful picture of an animal making the hand movements associated with that sound (e.g. throwing our hands in the air like we’re scared).
Stefanie has used effective techniques such as pictures, sounds and hand motions to help kids learn the sounds these letters make, remembering the sounds with the help of hand motions and then practising sounds in group of four letters at a time to blend sounds together to form a word. This unique method of teaching is highly effective and will help parents to maximise their children’s learning capabilities and turn reading time into a fun activity.
ABC See Hear, Do: Learn to Read 55 Words includes both upper and lower case letters displayed on each page along with a variety of beautiful animal images corresponding to each letter sound and the hand motions. I like that this book isn’t just your normal alphabet book telling you the alphabet and giving an example. It includes 55 simple words in big, bold letters and kids are encouraged on sounding them out. E.g. “RIP, TIP, MAP, SAP, BIG, PIG.” It conveys the excitement of learning to read and encourages children to begin looking more closely at words and gives them an opportunity to sound out words one letter at a time.
Final Verdict
A must have for struggling readers! Makes reading fun!
Overall, a very beneficial book that could be used in any lower elementary classroom. The illustrations are colorful and captivating and little ones will be fascinated with this book, it’s fun and educational. It allows them to have fun while learning their ABC’s. A fun exercise for young children!
