Beautifully illustrated, with healthy & empowering messages!
What an adorable book! “Designed to SHINE! Read Aloud Rhymes for Any Size Heart” is a hopeful and encouraging collection of poems written by Joy Resor and beautifully illustrated by Lauren Connell. It contains 26 poems that will delight any young child. It’s a fully illustrated, trove of poetry that covers many topics starting with each alphabet – attention, balance, change, dance, energy, forgive, happy, grateful, imagine and kindness, to name a few. This poetry collection is a celebration of the humor, rhythm, wisdom, and words. What a wonderful way to introduce the young child to the love of poetic verse. Joy Resor’s fun rhymes are sure to draw in children.
We love that there are a great many positive, self-affirming messages covered in this beautiful book for all ages to soak in a nice little remedy against some of the other messages out there that children are exposed to! We have fallen in LOVE with the whimsical illustrations. The pictures are so unique, soft, precious and warm. We found ourselves so fascinated by the magical images on each page that we paused long after the words were read to absorb the beauty and detail. The characters in the story are drawn with such care and each one is so unique and incredible.
When reading aloud, it is always enjoyable to be able to read a story with a steady, easy to follow the flow. We think that Designed to Shine is laid out in a comfortable series of rhyming poems without being sing-songy. Each page contains a short poem while the captivating illustrations tell the story right along with the written word. The language is vivid, fun and adds character and creativity to this amazing rhyming book.
Designed to Shine gratifies and teaches kids to love and accept themselves for who they are! It also shares other valuable life lessons. It brings pleasure, as well as instruction, to its readers. Memorizing and reciting the beautiful poems from this book can be an ideal activity for you and, for your child. Joy Resor has done a wonderful job in writing these amazing poems that rhyme, are short, and have instructional value.
