HERE’S A LOOK AT THE BOOK BLURB

Heaven's Bell by Sherrie Barch“He looked up at his bell, and in that one object, finally understood the perfection of heaven in a way that nobody on earth ever would.” The bell is pure love. ”Ashley and Cody have one of those special, once-in-a-lifetime friendships that only the luckiest amongst us ever get to experience. Then, life as they know it, including their almost daily games of basketball in Ashley’s driveway, is thrown upside down. The normally tough as nails 11 year old Ashley is suddenly forced to imagine what life would be like without her BFF. Heaven’s Bell was written to create a safe space for families to have a conversation about death and dying in a natural and productive way, and one that creates feelings of joy, inspiration, and gratitude for life. And hopefully, through Ashley and Cody’s respective eyes, it also creates an appreciation of what happens afterward – no matter what you believe that to be. This book is meant to bring readers of all ages comfort and hope, wrapped in a shell of smiles and entertainment!

HERE IS OUR REVIEW

Our heart is heavy as we write this review. We wish we lived in a world where kids didn’t have to know the pain of losing a loved one! In reality, most children will experience a loss of a close relative or friend sometime in their youth. Our latest certified great read, Heaven’s Bell is a children’s book that can offer great opportunities for conversing with your child about his/her feelings in a casual, non-intimidating manner. This story is written for kids between the ages of 8 and 12 years old but is suitable for all ages. The story is like a comfort blanket of love, hope, and reassurance for anyone who has lost a loved one.

Heaven’s Bell is way more than a children’s book. It is beautifully written by Sherrie Barch to start a conversation about death and the afterlife in a way that is easy for young kids to understand. The book follows the story of two childhood BFF’s Cody and Ashley. The friendship shown between them is so pure and positive and is hard to find in today’s world. Cody and Ashley are now 11-years old.  They never miss their daily games of basketball in Ashley’s driveway. They adore each other and cannot imagine their lives without their best friend in them. But destiny has other plans for them. What happens when Ashley finds out the real reason behind her best friend’s thinning hair and his weird behavior from the last few months? How will Ashley react when Cody has to leave the world untimely due to chronic illness? What is Heaven’s Bell and how does it connect two friends even when they are separated by death? Read the book to learn all about it!

Heaven’s Bell is a wonderful resource for parents or caregivers to read to the very young children who have lost a parent or grandparent to help them understand death and be presented in a beautiful way that they can understand. It can help kids cope with this extremely difficult subject in the gentlest, sweetest, positive way possible. It can also be read in a classroom to aid discussion on what heaven may be like.

Final Verdict

Subtle, direct, and profound, this powerful story communicates the deep joy and unbreakable bonds that true friends share, and it will reassure little ones who know firsthand the aching sadness that separation by death brings.
