Children’s author Joanna Rose is on the Reading with your Kids Podcast to tell us, and to celebrate the benefits of reading aloud her wonderful new Picture Book. Cheerful the Angry Chicken communicates many important lessons regarding managing difficult emotions and having the courage to stand up for what you believe in.

Joanna Rose is an author, speaker, teacher, and coach who works with adults, children and organizational leaders interested in improving the emotional health and wellness of our youth and communities.

More about the author

Joanna RoseJoanna uses her book “Cheerful the Angry Chicken” as a learning tool when teaching elementary-aged children how to manage difficult emotions.  She also sees the book as a way to give back to her community.  A portion of the profits of the book will be donated to both Reading Partners and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Charleston, SC.

Joanna’s interest in empowering youth and adults in the area of literacy, education and emotional health and wellness is evident through her community service work. In addition to being a dedicated volunteer with Reading Partners and Big Brothers Big Sisters, she also works with other local organizations that serve to strengthen the emotional health, healing, and well-being of the community. She is the Facilitator of “Power of Intention” circles at Bliss Spiritual Co-op, coaching those who want to reach their full potential through improved self-awareness and action-oriented goal setting.  In addition, she is a certified Spanish healthcare interpreter who volunteers her time as a medical interpreter helping the local Hispanic community in Mount Pleasant, SC.
