Being short, being tall. Let’s face it, we all have trouble with our height. We’re all somehow different, but some kids can be mean and know how to trigger those pain points. Being Small (Isn’t So Bad After All) is a perfect book that will help vertically challenged kids to understand that being smaller than others has its own advantages.
Being Small (Isn’t So Bad After All) by Lori Orlinsky is a children’s rhyming picture book for children aged 3 to 7 years old. This wonderful little book talks about a little girl who is sidelined by other kids because of her lack of height. She is called mean names such as munchkin, shorty, and peanut, by her classmates. Being the shortest kid in her class makes her upset. Her mom comforts her little girl while explaining to her that being short doesn’t have to be a disadvantage, and presents to her some of the hilarious and unique advantages that only small people can have because of their height! With lovely illustrations that help to tell the little rhyming story well, this is a great book for children who would like to know that their height is never an issue in life; they’re beautiful just the way they are!
We are all different in some way and kids have this way of intimidating those who are different from their group, and we think Lori’s book will be a helpful tool for all of the kids who might be intimidated as well as those who might be doing the intimidation. Being Small (Isn’t So Bad After All) can be used as an example, this story and the tool the little girl is taught by her mother may be applied to any other day to day scenario in life.
Final Verdict
The book is written in rhyme, which adds to the enjoyment. This would be a great book to have in a classroom or summer reading program. Highly recommended for kids everywhere! So grab your copy now and read it with your kids tonight!
