Is Our Latest Reading With Your Kids Certified Great Read

My Sister’s Super Skills is the perfect book for these uncertain times!

We learned from her appearance on the Reading With Your Kids Podcast that Lauren Mosback is a children’s book author, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavior Specialist. She has counseled kids for over 10 years. (If you missed her appearance you can listen via the link at the bottom of this post.)

Lauren believes in promoting the idea of positive psychology and having an emotional growth-oriented mindset. She believes it is especially important to help kids develop a strong sense of self-worth. She also believes it is important to instill in them the value of kindness toward self and others.

Lauren’s picture book “My Sister’s Super Skills” begins with the lead character asking the reader “Do you ever feel sad, frustrated, worried or mad?” I think that at this uncertain time in history every kid, and their parents, are feeling sad, frustrated, worried and mad almost every single day.

Thankfully, our lead character lets us know that if we “try these simple steps” we will soon feel glad.

Instead of being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound the super hero of this story, big sister Lily, possesses the super powers of kindness and empathy.

This is a wonderful read aloud book that will not only teach children important EQ skills it will also remind parents and caregivers to “think positive thoughts” and know that “tomorrow will be a fresh start.”

This book would be a great addition to any family library.
