Meet the Author – Meghan Marie Geary

Today we are jump out of our seats excited to have the supremely talented children’s book author Meghan Marie Geary join us on the podcast. It was so exciting and interesting to hear all about her first children’s book, The Great Big Move: A Surprisingly Exciting Adventure! It’s a children’s book about moving and finding the silver lining in tough situations.
Meghan’s book is a story about a sweet and spunky little girl, Katie Harlow, who has experienced two moves and is about to encounter her third. It not only allows the reader to relate to Katie Harlow as she experiences this move but also just a big life change in general. It can help show children that with change can come toa lot of good even though you may not spot it right away!

I am mom to two amazing girls, Karsyn and Hartlyn, and have been married to my husband for 12 years. I love spending time with friends and family, hanging with my girls crafting, dancing, and jumping into their world of imagination for some playtime! I never know what I will experience there, which is a great source of ideas for my writing. Writing children’s books is new for me. While I have always had stories put together in my head and wrote books as a child, this was the year I actually decided to make those stories come to life. My girls are my inspiration for everything I write –from their adventures and imaginative play to the messages I try to convey to them on a daily basis.

Brooke is a graphic designer and illustrator who resides in the south suburbs of Chicago. She earned her BA with a focus in Graphic Design from Illinois State University in 2008. For the past 10+ years, she’s been working in print design.

The Great Big Move: A Surprisingly Exciting Adventure
This is a story about a sweet and spunky little girl, Katie Harlow, who has experienced two moves and is about to encounter her third. While thinking about all of the things she will miss she has an epiphany! She realizes all of these moves have actually been great adventures and she has discovered many treasures along the way. Katie Harlow realizes that without experiencing these moves she may have missed out on some really, REALLY cool things! She is left feeling excited and ready for her next adventure and the unknown treasures that need to be found!! Following the story are four journaling pages to document old and new treasures and four-letter writing pages to be filled out, cut out and mailed out to keep in touch with old friends!
This is a great read for children on their own or with an adult when they are about to experience a move or any tough situation for that matter. It not only allows the reader to relate to Katie Harlow as she experiences this move but also just a big life change in general.
