Planet Scrabbage and the Vegerons

Author Interview with Paul Ian Cross

Paul Ian Cross is an award-winning children’s author and scientist based in London, UK. Paul has always enjoyed creative writing, but pursued a career in the sciences. After the birth of his nephew, Hayden, Cross however felt inspired to start sharing his stories with the world, inspiring and captivating the imaginations of young kids everywhere. His work in science gives Cross a lot of ideas and Planet Scrabbage and the Vegerons is no exception. It is a cute, fun book to teach your children to eat their vegetables. His first picture book, Praxx and the Ringing Robot, won second prize in the ‘Picture Books 5 & Younger’ category at the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards 2017.

Planet Scrabbage and the Vegerons follows a young girl taking a trip to Planet Scrabbage. As our Author of The Day, Paul tells us all about his hilariously silly rhyming picture book, for ages 4-7, about the importance of eating your veg!

Join us as Paul gives us a short introduction to what Planet Scrabbage and the Vegerons is all about, what inspired him to write for children, his journey as an author & how his background in science influenced his writing.

Stay tuned as Paul also tells us about his future projects. He is developing his first short story, Engella, into a middle-grade novel. He has five books planned for a brand new series – The Chronicles of Engella Rhys.
