HERE’S OUR BOOK REVIEW

The Adventures of Bentley Hippo: Inspiring Children to be Patient is one of the 5 books in the inspiring children series written by an award-winning author Argyro Graphy. All the books in the series are written with the intention to inspire children to be kind towards each other, treat everyone with respect, and help kids practice patience from a very young age.

The Adventures of Bentley Hippo: Inspiring Children to be Patient perfectly captures the joy that can be found in passing the time with friends. The book starts with a loud knock on the door of our main character BENTLEY, a vision-impaired but bubbly hippo. Peeking through the peephole, Bentley finds out it’s his friend JAXON the curious monkey. Jaxon is excited for the blue rocket that will be lifting off that is supposed to be the ride of a lifetime. A huge line was formed by children all excited to ride the blue rocket. Bentley and Jaxon saw their friends DAISY the pretty giraffe, TOBY the shy, timid elephant, and MARTY the roar-less lion near the back of the line. Jaxon can’t stand still and grows impatient. His multiple attempts to get to the front of the line fails and he becomes frustrated. Bentley is irked by this behavior and steps in to teach Jaxon how waiting can yield fruitful results but teaches kindness in the process.

waiting is hard for everyone but it is even harder for kids. Waiting patiently is a skill that has to be taught and honed in on overtime to really sink in, which is where our latest certified great read comes into play. Argyro validates the children’s feelings when they are inpatient while reminding kids that the wait can be worthwhile. Henkes gently shows that waiting itself is not necessarily a bad thing. The book shows kids that it’s ok to feel impatient and waiting can be enjoyable if you choose to (maybe chat, play something or read), and it can be worthwhile.

With fun pictures and kid-friendly text, it paints a delightful picture that teaches kids about the destructive nature of being impatient.
