Our Review
It will inspire, educate and help your children develop a deep sense of love for nature and its beautiful creatures. A book every child should own!
There’s nothing more relaxing than being somewhere down in a woods, totally isolated from the humankind where the only sounds are those of your own footsteps, the wind, rustling trees and the movements of the creatures who call the wild home. But the fact of the matter is that too many of us rarely get to experience this. Woodland Fairies written by Nayera Salam and illustrated by Wescoat Natasha is here instill those experiences and imagination in young children through a delightful story and beautiful illustrations.
Love, love, love! We love this book! The illustrations, the vocabulary, the language, all of it. Woodland Fairies is a cute and touching story about taking care of animal’s that captures children’s imaginations right away with its colorful and unique illustrations. The illustrations are just lovely and I found the text very poetic and quite enjoyable to read.
Woodland Fairies follows a young girl named Linh and her fairy friends Jasmine, Rosie, and Bluebell as they play through the woodland, having some good times connecting with nature and helping their animal friends along the way. They are kind and determined to help Mama Coquette, Uncle McBuck, Lady Lala, and Grandpa Howell. What I Love most about this book is author’s candid explanations and observation about Mother Nature. This is a simple companion for any child who is a nature lover.
I think it’s a stunning portrait of connecting with nature and its beautiful creatures, perspective, and being a human. While kids are naturally caring, especially when it comes to animals, nurturing and encouraging this compassion is important. The benefits of teaching kids to care for the animals around them are truly endless and studies have shown that kids who grow up loving and caring for a pet are more sociable and compassionate overall.
Nayera’s book does just that! It teaches kids about the wonder and beauty of the outdoors. With beautiful pictures and beautiful words on each page, it is guaranteed to inspire your little one to appreciate, recognize the full worth and beauty of nature and stand up for animals. Now that’s a powerful lesson to learn at any age! And one of the best ways to get kids to learn to love and respect animals is by reading them stories so don’t underestimate the power of a good book to impact a child’s life!
It’s a great story of imagination, adventure, and a magical world beyond what we see in children’s books. Am anxious to share with my niece as I think she will appreciate this story, especially with its themes of nature, friendship, and caring for animals.
Final Verdict
Overall, I love the whimsy in both the illustrations and the words in this story. It teaches lessons about nurturing, love and compassion. The images provide a lot to discover with your little one while you read — hidden details and new things to see with each reading. This book is perfect if you’re looking to add some beautiful books to your shelves at home, give as a gift or add to your library wish list. I can’t wait to see what Nayera writes next.
