In Conversation With Author Devra Robitaille
Today we are pleased to have Devra Robitaille on Reading with Your Kids Podcast to talk about her wonderful & fun books in “The Muffy Series”. In this interview Devra will take us through the Muffy’s journey which is full of laughter and adventure as she tries to unite her two families.
London-born Devra is a prolific composer, songwriter and keyboardist, as well as an author of books for kids. She had a successful career as a professional musician in England, playing keyboards and touring with Mike Oldfield of Tubular Bells fame, before moving to America in the nineties. All through the nineties she directed musicals and theatrical productions in Los Angeles. Her first children’s book series is a trilogy of dog stories, called the “Muffy” series; she also will be publishing two more books this year. Devra now lives in Florida with her family on the Sarasota Bay. She loves to kayak and bike and is a consummate foodie, baking lovely cakes and deserts. She continues to write and compose for the theatre, but loves to write for children.
Muffy is a happy and curious Golden Doodle puppy who lives on a farm. One day she chases a grasshopper and gets lost. She finds herself alone and hungry but luck is on her side and she is adopted by a wonderful family, the Gabriels, who have a very orderly pack of dogs. Muffy becomes part of her new family, and is accepted by Radar and Oliver and the gang, but she still pines for her sister, Riff and misses the Farm. One of her new friends, Wise Dog, introduces her to a very Unusual Dog Catcher who can communicate with the animals and specialises in helping them to get home again.
Muffy and the Dog Catcher is the first in a trilogy. Book two is “Muffy’s Florida Adventure” where she and her family go on an epic journey in an RV. She meets dolphins and manatees and a salty sea dog named Starboard who works on a tourist boat. The third book is called “Muffy and the Medicine cat” and in this book Muffy becomes fast friends with a cat who works at the vet’s office helping all the animals to get well.
