Authors Margie Markarian & Joanie Findle!!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today we’re overjoyed to have two wonderful children’s books authors on the Reading with your kids podcast. Our first guest, Margie Markarian is the debut author of a children’s picture book, The Princess and the Cafe on the Moat.

Margie is joining to talk about her newly released book, a sweet little book about our basic human need to be needed, and our desire to be helpful. The Princess and the Café on the Moat is a lovely flip on the traditional fairy tale, one that children will want to hear again and again. It would make a great spring gift and a great addition to home and classroom libraries.

Listen in as Joanie Findle discusses her middle-grade fiction, Out of This World: and More Tales of the Supernatural, her inspiration for her writing and her upcoming books. We’re happy to present this episode and Joanie’s story and hope that you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you!

Who are authors Margie Markarian & Joanie Findle? Where do they get their inspiration from? How many kids’ books have they written and published? Find answers to these questions in this exciting interview!

Here’s more information about Margie Markarian

Margie MarkarianMargie Markarian is a children’s book author and freelance editor/writer based in Franklin, Massachusetts. The Princess and the Café on the Moat (Sleeping Bear Press) is her first picture book. Margie has also written several nonfiction books for kids. She specializes in content for kids, teens, parents, and teachers

Like the main character in the Princess and the Café on the Moat, Margie enjoys keeping busy and connecting with people, far and wide. If she’s not writing (or chatting!) at a local café, it’s probably because she’s exploring a nearby New England city, town or seaside village.  Her favorite modes of transportation are her own two feet and a hybrid bike.  Her favorite companions are her husband Richard and two grown-up kids—Rebecca and Peter.

More about The Princess and the Cafe on the Moat

The Princess and the Cafe on the Moat by [Markarian, Margie]Once upon a time, there was a very busy castle. And in that castle lived a king, a queen, a young princess, and all their courtiers and attendants. Everyone was very busy. The king conferred with his knights. The queen was occupied with her ladies-in-waiting. And the rest of the palace staff was doing their daily chores. Every one was working. Everyone but the princess, who wanted very much to be engaged like the others. But it seemed nobody wanted or needed her help. Determined to be useful, the kindhearted princess sneaked away to the countryside to look for opportunities to help others. What did she find outside the castle walls? This feel-good story reminds us all about the importance of reaching out and taking time to connect with one another.

Out of This World: and More Tales of the Supernatural (Nothing Is as it Seems Book 2) by [Findle, Joanie]Chilling, spine-tingling mysteries

Within the walls of the ancient house are secrets to be discovered, if you dare.

A lesson for misbehaved children: little monsters grow into big monsters.

The scarecrows keep disappearing from the field—or do they?

There is something very strange about the old man next door.

Life as you know it can slip away in the blink of an eye. Or in the toss of a coin.

Nothing is as it seems
