Totally Interactive Recipe-Nori Wraps

We are absolutely delighted to have Francie Healey, Author of Eat To Beat Alzheimer’s back on our show. Francie is joining us today to share a recipe of Nori Wraps, a totally interactive recipe that will get your kids excited. Nori wraps are Sticky white rice in seaweed sheet filled with avocado, carrot and cucumber. It is an excellent source of irons, vitamins, iodine and offers variety in the diet. It is a fun & delicious recipe you can make with your kids – and have fun!
Nori wraps with Avocado, Carrot and Cucumber
Delicious nori rolls look great & even people who haven’t eaten this before will love it & will be excited to get into the kitchen . Impress your Kids & their friends by making this colourful, flavourful and simple recipe.
Ingredients:
- Sprouted Rice/Brown Rice (2 cups)
- Seaweed Sheets (“Nori”)
- Cucumber (1, thinly sliced)
- Carrot (1 piece, thinly sliced)
- Avocado (1 large piece)
- Radish(1)
- Salt(1/2 tea spoon)
- Tamari Sauce(3 tea spoon)
- Ginger(2 tea spoon)
Let’s start by cooking the rice. While rice is cooking, cut vegetables. Chop the radish and put it in the food processor along with the cooked rice, salt and Tamari and blend until it is minced.
Grate ginger & mix it in the rice mixture, Peel carrot and slice into long thin pieces. Cut cucumber about the size of the width of seaweed and slice into thin pieces. Slice avocado.
Place 1 nori sheet on a platform and top with a ¼ of the rice. Closer to edge of seaweed, lay cucumber slice first, then carrot and then avocado.
Now you’re ready to roll sushi. With your hands, raise the seaweed edge and start rolling and as you roll, give a little pressure with your hands to tighten the roll. Slice into halves or thick slices using a sharp chef knife. Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
